Autumn Leaves are Falling…Don’t Let Your Sales Fall!
Wow what a Summer! In the middle of the bushfires and heatwave I was lucky enough to have a short trip overseas. I went from 42 degrees Celsius to minus 20 degrees. Lucky as a business owner I’m adaptable! I visited friends in Canada and once again was able to enjoy my double chocolate donuts at Canada’s famous Tim Horton’s. Tim Horton’s is the one donut chain that ran Krispy Kreme out of town! I’ll reveal the real story in upcoming newsletters.

3. How do I deal with competitors?
It always astounds me that people place competitors under the Threats column in a SWOT. Competitors are not a threat, they are a fact of business life. I would be quite concerned if a business didn’t have any competitors it could mean that there isn’t enough business in the first place! I don’t see competitors as a threat, sometimes they are a great asset to your business. So the answer I give many small business owners when they ask me “how do I deal with competitors?” is COMPETE with your competitors!
To be competitive in business is a great thing, it also has rewards for customers. The most important part of competition is knowing your competitors and comparing how you stack up against them in the eyes of the customer. You can then identify your strengths and weaknesses and develop a strategy to compete. You don’t have to be the same as your competitors to compete. You need to communicate the differences so that customers can make a choice. Competitor research is essential and needs to be conducted on a regular basis but don’t just copy what your competitors are doing. How do you know that they know what they are doing? As a special for March and April you can download the
Competitor Research Kit for only $15 (inc GST) this is a saving of $20.
